Matthew Stanbury and Ann Cotcher QC represent student acquitted of raping his former girlfriend

27 March 2017

The prosecution has offered no evidence against Elgan Varney, with not guilty verdicts recorded against him on all counts. Mr Varney was accused of raping fellow Keele University student Hannah Stubbs, who later took her own life.

Mr Varney was represented by Garden Court North Chambers’ door tenant Ann Cotcher QC and Chambers’ Matthew Stanbury, instructed by Hollie Alcock of Quality Solicitors Jordans.

QS Jordans have issued a press release on behalf of Mr Varney.
