Garden Court North is pleased to welcome Mikhil Karnik.

Mikhil joins the Immigration team.

Mikhil practises in public law and human rights law specialising in judicial review including injunctive relief of administrative decisions such as unlawful detention and removal decisions. He has also acted in decisions relating to leave to remain, permission to work, statelessness, access to student loans and has successfully required the SSHD to return clients unlawfully removed. He is currently pursuing a number of applications to the European Court of Human Rights.

He also undertakes the full range of immigration and asylum work including cases involving consideration of European law, in particular the freedom of movement and citizenship provisions including derivative rights

In addition to his immigration practice, Mikhil has an extensive background in environmental law with specific focus on waste and contaminated land. He has defended in environmental and health and safety prosecutions including statutory nuisance, he has advised on regulatory PPC and planning issues, contaminated land and nuisance.
