A Manchester man, originally convicted of murder in 2010, has this week been convicted of the lesser charge of manslaughter following the re-trial at Manchester Crown Court.

Kevin Wilhelm and Anthony Ellis were accused of murdering 18-year-old John Muldowney by stabbing in June 2010 and both were convicted of murder at the first trial. Their murder convictions were quashed in late 2013 by the Court of Appeal and a re-trial ordered. The co-defendant, Wilhelm, was again convicted of murder at the re-trial.

GCN’s Nina Grahame represented Anthony Ellis in the re-trial, instructed by Mary Monson Solicitors .
