Pete Weatherby QC will be speaking at the Criminal Law Update breakout session covering issues including the "final word" on hearsay plus Hutchinson v UK (whole life tariffs); other speakers in this breakout are Alex Balin QC and Helen Law (both of Matrix Chambers).

Pete Weatherby QC
Pete is a human rights and public law specialist based in Manchester who “commands great respect for his expertise across a broad range of human rights issues”. (Chambers and Partners 2015). He is currently leading the team representing 22 of the Hillsborough families at the Inquests in Warrington.
Pete has appeared in many leading cases. In recent times he appeared in the successful Grand Chamber challenge to whole life sentences without review: Vinter v UK , and has undertaken a number of IPP challenges up to Supreme Court and Strasbourg level, including James v UK. His work also covers international law, criminal and prison law including a thriving appellate practice.
He is the current Regional Silk of the Year awarded by Legal 500.
