Private briefing for Westminster MPs on Special Tribunal

Aarif Abraham from our International Law team has co-convened, through Accountability Unit, a Private briefing on the Special tribunal for the crime of aggression in Ukraine. The events other co-conveners are Dr Ewelina Ochab, of the Coalition for Genocide Response, and Andy Bailey of AEGIS.

The briefing for Parliamentarians will specifically consider which model would be most workable for the Special Tribunal for the the Crime of Aggression as allegedly being committed in Ukraine, and where the UK might provide leadership.

The briefing will also consider the ramifications, including for the campaign for the Special Tribunal, of the decision by the ICC Prosecutor to issue an arrest warrant for President Vladimir Putin for war crimes, including the crime of deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia.

The briefing is kindly sponsored by a number of cross-party MPs from the APPGs on Ukraine, Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity, and International Law and Justice Accountability. It will be Chaired by Bob Seely MP and hosted by Professor Lord David Alton.

There will be keynotes provided by Dr Anton Korynevych of the Ukrainian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Professor Dapo Akande of the University of Oxford. Aarif Abraham and Dr Ewelina Ochab will make interventions alongside sponsoring MPs.

The hour-long session will take place on 28 March, and is by invitation only.
