Assistant Fees Manager
Salary: £35,000 to £38,000 p.a depending on experience
Full time hours of work are 9am to 6pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5.30pm Friday. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements will be considered
Appointment is subject to Chambers’ usual six-month probationary period.
Garden Court North Chambers invites applications for the role of Assistant Fees Manager to work within our Billing and Fee Collection department to administer the effective fee collection of barrister professional fees.
Core responsibilities
- The efficient administration of barrister’s professional fee collection and aged debt review.
- The monitoring and tracking of individual barrister income to ensure consistent revenue.
- Monitoring the aged debt levels for Chambers’ professional client firms, including frequency of payments.
- Engaging with barrister members in relation to their individual aged debts, including arranging regular Aged Debt Review meetings with barristers Members.
- Working with Chambers’ professional clients to develop mutually beneficial relationships to ensure the correct and efficient administration of the Legal Aid Agency’s Client and Cost Management System.
- Dealing with requests from professional clients, including law costs draftsmen, in respect of amendments to bills and cost negotiations.
- The administration of CCMS activity including submitting Payment on Account Applications and Final Bill submissions.
Person specification
Essential
- Demonstrable experience of working within a fee collection/ credit control role
- High level of numeracy and experience of interpreting numerical data
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- The ability to communicate effectively and confidently with colleagues and Chambers’ external professional contacts
- Strong IT skills
- The ability to manage own workload including prioritising tasks
- A positive and constructive approach to problem solving and team working
Desirable
- An understanding of barrister aged debt reports and fee chasing
- Experience of using CCMS for processing legal aid on-line
- Knowledge and experience of legal aid streams
- LEX case management system experience or similar professional software
