Fees Administrator
Salary: £28,000 to £32,000 p.a depending on experience
Full time hours of work are 9am to 6pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5.30pm Friday. Flexible, hybrid and part-time working arrangements, including job share, will be considered
Appointment is subject to Chambers’ usual six-month probationary period.
Garden Court North Chambers invites applications for the role of Fees Administrator to work within our Billing and Fee Collection department to proactively and efficiently administer and process the fees of barristers.
Core responsibilities
- The daily administration of the Legal Aid Agency’s Client and Cost Management System (CCMS) to include Legal Aid Payment on Account applications and Final Bill submissions.
- Daily liaison with barristers and professional clients as necessary and dealing with all issues arising.
- Working with professional clients to develop mutually beneficial relationships and internal systems to ensure the correct and efficient administration of the CCMS system.
- In conjunction with other Fee Collection staff, conduct aged debt review work.
- Processing the payment of BACS payments to barrister members as directed by the Finance Manager daily and deal with issues arising.
- Processing the weekly Legal Aid Remittance Statements and monthly Provider Statements of Accounts on Chambers’ Case Management System.
- Undertake billing as required.
Person specification
Essential
- Experience of using case management/ professional software systems
- Strong IT skills
- High level of numeracy and experience of interpreting numerical data
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- The ability to manage your own workload including prioritising tasks
- The ability to communicate effectively and confidently with colleagues and Chambers’ external professional contacts
Desirable
- Previous experience within a legal cashier/ other credit control role (full training will be provided)
- Previous experience within a barrister’s chambers or other legal organisation
- Experience of using CCMS for processing legal aid on-line
- An understanding of legal aid funding
- LEX case management system experience
