Garden Court North Chambers’ Crime Team remains committed to direct action

24 July 2015

The Criminal Team at at Garden Court North Chambers notes this morning’s statement from the CBA leadership, whose views on direct action were rejected by popular ballot.

The Crime Team regrets that the leadership appears to be acting in conflict with the interests of the majority by seeking, at the first opportunity, to use the solicitors’ revised protocol as an excuse to end the action.

This is to be deplored. The revised protocol remains targeted at the solicitors’ fee cut and dual contracts. This action can only succeed if we stand united.  We must defeat the fee cut and dual contracts to preserve the independent bar.

We remain committed to direct action and wish to make that public so that other members of the profession can have the confidence to do the same.
