Inquests & public inquiries
‘Garden Court North Chambers has a huge impact. It is a progressive set that has a ferocious dedication to representing some of the most disadvantaged people. Their barristers are at the legal aid coalface, and their cases often aim to advance social justice and equality.’
We are currently recruiting barristers to our Inquests and Public Inquiries team. Find out more.
Garden Court North’s Inquest and Inquiries Team has significant expertise and experience in the most complex and high-profile of inquests and public inquiries. We are recognised in both Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500 for both our Silks and leading juniors. Practitioners within the Inquest and Inquiries team draw on their multi-disciplinary practices in civil, criminal, public and international law to fully and fearlessly represent their clients.
Our members represent bereaved families and non-state actors in the Manchester Arena Inquiry, the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, the Undercover Policing Inquiry, the UK Covid 19 Inquiry and the Lampard Inquiry. We have also represented families in the historic Hillsborough inquests (and as such were some of the joint recipients of the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Award in 2016), the public inquiry into the death of Anthony Grainger, and the inquest into the death of Poppi Worthington. Members are also frequently instructed in judicial review proceedings and in civil claims in damages that arise from Inquest proceedings.
‘Garden Court North Chambers has a wealth of experience in dealing with individuals from all walks of life, adapting to meet the specific needs of each client. They are highly qualified in dealing with bereaved families and dealing with niche areas of law that many other practitioners have not had experience in’.
