Hillsborough Law Now online training – What is Hillsborough Law?
This Hillsborough Law Now training event will be hosted by Deborah Cole, executive director of INQUEST, and Pete Weatherby QC, from our Inquests and Inquiries team, who will help attendees understand Hillsborough Law Now.
The event is part of an approach looking to build campaigners, who can can be trained and supported to attend events and meetings on behalf of the campaign.
In 2017 the then Prime Minister, Rt Hon. Theresa May MP, asked the then Bishop of Liverpool, Right Reverend James Jones, to undertake a review into lessons to be learned from Hillsborough (‘The Patronising Disposition of Unaccountable Power’). Published in November 2017, the recommendations of that review have still not been acted open and no legislation has been forthcoming.
This meeting is convened to discuss how and when Parliamentarians, Combined Authority Mayors, campaigners, activities and others can drive forward the crucial need to bring forth legislative change that realises and enacts the recommendations of the 2017 Review.
