The Future of Pro Bono: Young Lawyers Leading Change (Manchester)

Garden Court North’s Christian Weaver will be speaking at ‘The Future of Pro Bono: Young Lawyers Leading Change’ event at Deans Court Chambers in Manchester, on 3 November 2026.

The event marks the first time that Pro Bono Week UK will be hosted outside of London, to mark its 25th anniversary. The Greater Manchester Pro Bono Committee will be hosting the event in partnership with Manchester Young Lawyers and Manchester Trainee Solicitors Group.

It is an opportunity for early-career lawyers to hear from inspiring speakers, share ideas, and consider their role in advancing access to justice through pro bono work, which Christian has championed since coming to the Bar in 2016.

Christian has represented bereaved families in some of the most high-profile inquests in England and Wales, including that of Awaab Ishak, following which he campaigned for Awaab’s Law. Christian was also named ‘Barrister of the Year’ at the Greater Manchester Pro Bono Awards last year.

The event will begin at 6pm, with with an opening address from District Judge Jonathan Morwood, followed by a panel discussion led by Chair Sophie Cartwright KC from Deans Court Chambers.

Christian will speak in a panel alongside:

  • Abigail Whelan (TLT LLP)
  • Phoebe Mather (Kings Chambers)
  • Simon Price (Kennedys)
  • A representative from Greater Manchester Law Centre

Drinks and networking will follow from 7-8:30pm.

Tickets are available here. Further information is also available about the corresponding Pro Bono Week events in London (3 November) and Cardiff (4 November).
