Family succeeds in unlawful killing claim after acquittal

The family of Ryan Passey, who was stabbed in a nightclub in Stourbridge on 6 August 2017, have succeeded in a claim for damages brought against his assailant, Kobe Murray. Mr Murray was acquitted of murder and manslaughter at a criminal trial but the civil claim has now established that Ryan was unlawfully killed.

The judge made an award including aggravated damages to mark the exceptionally serious nature of the Defendant’s conduct.
