Supreme Court to hear miscarriage of justice compensation appeal

The Supreme Court has today granted Victor Nealon and Sam Hallam permission to appeal.
The point in issue is the availability of compensation to the victims of miscarriages of justice, and the test to be applied when deciding if compensation should be paid to victims. Further background can be found on the Supreme Court website.
Mr Nealon was represented in the Court of Appeal by Garden Court North Chambers’ Matthew Stanbury and Joseph Markus, instructed by Mark Newby of Quality Solicitors Jordans. In the Supreme Court Matthew is led by Dinah Rose QC of Blackstone Chambers.
