Garden Court North is delighted to announce that Avril Rushe has today (1 December 2025) officially become a Member of Chambers.

Avril has a busy public law practice with a particular expertise in mental capacity and community care. She is recognised in the Legal 500 as a Tier 1 Leading junior for Court of Protection and Community Care, joining Garden Court North’s strong and fast-growing COP team.

“Garden Court North was a natural choice for me due to its strength across my areas of practice, and commitment to fighting for justice and providing legally aided representation,” Avril said.

Avril is also instructed in homelessness judicial reviews, community care, and inquests.

She gained extensive experience in the field of public law and human rights working in legal advice centres and human rights NGOs in Germany, Bolivia, the UK, and the Netherlands. Through this work, Avril developed skills for dealing with vulnerable clients, particularly in the fields of access to healthcare, anti-discrimination, and violence against women and girls (VAWG).

See Avril’s profile for more information on her areas of expertise, recommendations, and notable cases.
