The Supreme Court has granted permission to Palestine Action co-founder Huda Ammori to appeal against the proscription of the group, likely to be heard later this year.

The Home Secretary’s decision to proscribe the direct action group in July 2025 prompted widespread concerns about the right to free speech and protest.

Following a legal challenge brought by Ms Ammori, the High Court ruled in February 2026 that the proscription was an “unlawful” interference with Articles 10 and 11 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

The Government appealed to the Court of Appeal, which overturned the High Court’s decision on 15 June 2026. The Supreme Court has now granted Ms Ammori permission to appeal against the Court of Appeal’s decision.

Garden Court North’s Mira Hammad and Rosalind Burgin were instructed by Birnberg Peirce Solicitors and Kellys Solicitors to represent Ms Ammori. They were led by Raza Husain KC and Blinne Ní Ghrálaigh KC of Matrix Chambers. Other junior counsel for Ms Ammori are Owen Greenhall and Audrey Mogan of Garden Court Chambers, and Paul Lukhurst, Rayan Fakhoury and Grant Kynaston of Blackstone Chambers.
