Javaid Rehman human rights in Iran

The first detailed report by an independent UN expert about human rights in Iran since the protests and extreme state repression in the aftermath of the death in custody of 22-year Jina Mahsa Amini has been published.

The report was written by Garden Court North’s associate member Professor Javaid Rehman, The United Nations’ Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Analysing the deeply concerning situation in Iran, Professor Rehman highlights the possibility that international crimes, including crimes against humanity, may have been committed in Iran.

In addition to the Human rights violations leading up to, and since, the death of Jina Mahsa Amini, the report looks at Human rights concerns during the reporting period and also includes several recommendations for the Iranian Government and the international community.
