Javaid Rehman

Garden Court North Chambers is delighted to announce that Academic Associate Member Professor Javaid Rehman has commenced pupillage.

Javaid became a member of the Punjab Bar in 1993 and is a Professor of Law at Brunel University. Javaid possesses more than 30 years of experience as an academic lawyer and is one of the leading global authorities on Muslim constitutionalism and international human rights law, having served as the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran from 2018 until 2024.

Javaid will be supervised during his pupillage by Mikhil Karnik, a member of Garden Court North’s Immigration and Asylum team.

Mikhil said: “I am delighted that Javaid has decided to take this step. He brings with him a remarkable wealth of knowledge and experience, and in areas in which the Bar is otherwise simply so lacking. I’m really excited about working with Javaid in what will undoubtedly be an atypical pupillage.”

We wish Javaid every success during his pupillage.
